You've probably heard the term mindfulness - it gets a lot of attention these days. People view it as a helpful method of reducing stress; it’s easy to apply in your life. In essence, mindfulness is simply a way of bringing our attention to the present. Mindfulness practice usually involves meditation which helps us to explore the workings of our own minds. By observing our thoughts and feelings we can be less critical and, by creating distance from judgement and criticism, we become less likely to react negatively to everyday challenges.

LET THIS NEW YEAR INSPIRE AN EXPLORATION INTO MINDFULNESS

This year we’re drawing our inspiration from mindfulness practices and sharing how to apply it to growth, healing and wellness. Through the practice of mindfulness we can let go of limits, let go of fear and become aware of what holds us back. Everyday life changes; how aware are we of how those changes affect us? The busyness of life can lead us away from our true selves and it becomes difficult to find comfort and quiet

There are many tools available to us to help us stay in touch with what we are feeling and experiencing.

Journaling is a good way to express emotions; it makes us more aware of what we are feeling.

Creating rituals can be a meaningful and beautiful way to give personal meaning and expression to what we need to release in order to clear the way for the new.

Practicing affirmations creates a flow of positive self talk that can replace the negative messages we send ourselves.

Starting a meditation practice is one way in which you can become more self aware and can create a sense of calm amid the storms of life.

These tools can be used individually or you may choose to incorporate them all into a goal of leading a more mindful life.
